Springtime in Halstead

So, it's springtime in Halstead, Kansas. Really. I'm not joking. It's April 10, so that means that Spring has been here for almost three weeks already.

Somebody should tell Mother Nature that Spring arrived...

Call me stubborn, but it's Spring, and that means we should be able to go outside, play at the park, and enjoy the sunshine!

So, the playground equipment is out...
   I know! Let's have a picnic!!

Mother Nature volunteered to bring the ice...
Not exactly what we had in mind.

How about a nature walk?

Or maybe a stroll down the street to look at the budding and flowering trees...

Springtime in Halstead...the sledding hill is donning its summer attire...

And the trees by the swimming pool are getting dolled up for their summer fashion show...

Down by the river, the sounds of rushing water tell us Spring has arrived!

Soon this happy place will be filled with children's laughter, couples holding hands on the bridge, and fisherman spinning their tales by the shoreline.

Before we know it we will be in the Dog Days of Summer. Old Glory will fly proudly as we celebrate our nation's birthday...

We will enjoy the cool shade of the many tall trees...

And tell stories of the olden days...

So, welcome to Halstead! It's Springtime...

And it's a GREAT day to be a DRAGON!!

In the bulb, there is a flower,
in the seed, an apple tree.
In cocoons a hidden promise,
butterflies will soon be free.
In the cold and snow of winter
there's a SPRING that waits to be
UNREVEALED until its season...
something GOD alone can see.
